People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere west of Montreal However, in reality this part of West Island is home to every aspect of the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is frequently referred to as her birthplace. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel grew on Courtice located just outside Oshawa within Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. As soon as I outgrew the size of my male friends then I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her in the direction she wanted. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Master of Fine Arts at York University. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the only Canadian member.
